| Who were ‘Kusilavas’ ? | |

Beyond Lav and Kush - great sons of Mata Sita there were two more peoples Kusilavas. But they were not Sita's childrens. So let us know who were they and what role they played in Ramayana. According to Prof.
Suniti Kumar Chatterjee in his book ”The Ramayana“
writes – “Bhagwan
Valmiki & his followers in the east class of Ramayana Singers, who
came to be known as “Kusilavas” which later came to mean also actors
& playwrights” Western Scholar Dr.
H. Jacobi in his book ‘Daas Ramayana’
– 1893 BC in Page No.62 writes – “Professional
‘Traveling Singers’ who sing epic songs to the accompaniment of the
lute were called Kusilavas ” Father Comille Bulcke
in his work ‘Ramkatha’ writes – “Bhagwan Valmiki trained his disciples Kusilavas with Ramayan in song made in Labangi Raag & thus they earn their living by singing Ramayana going in the streets in Ayodhaya” Rashtra Kavi Ramdhari
Singh Dinkar in his book ‘Four Chapters of
Sanskrit’ in Page –105 & Aacharya Chatursen in his work ‘Vaidek
Sanskirti Asuri Prabhaav’ in Page –148 writes that ‘KUSILAVAS’
means the person who sings traditional songs going one place to another to
